Harshada’s Inspiring Journey

Harshada was born with Spina Bifida and with paralysis of both the lower limbs.
She is from Malvan, Maharashtra. Her father works as a daily wage worker in Malvan,
monthly he earns around Rs. 7000-8000/-.

She contacted the Spina Bifida Foundation and was selected for her Incontinence surgeries
(Bladder augmentation, BNR Mitrofanoff and MACE) were done and she also underwent
Orthopedic procedure and Callipers were also given for her further mobility. These surgeries
will enable her to manage her incontinence herself and be socially continent and thus
facilitate proper schooling.

About SBF

The SBF, a not-for-profit organisation was formed by Medical Professionals and parents of Spina Bifida Children who have been involved in the care and upbringing of Spina Bifida patients in India for more than a decade. Since 1997, we – a group of doctors, parents and well wishers have been consistently working for the cause of improving the lives of Spina Bifida (SB) patients and for preventing SB.
